Trip to the Big ABQ

We loaded up and went to ABQ this morning. We landed at the Aquarium and checked out all the fishes and water creatures. It was a great day for a trip to ABQ. We had wanted to go to the zoo but decided on the Aquarium even though it was a perfect day for the zoo. Clear, sunny, and warm.

After the trip through the Aquarium, we ate with the fishes in the restuarant. The food was actually very good and the fishes entertaining. We ran into the Thompkins who were doing something similar to us for the weekend. After that the girls went into the garden area and the playground while I took a much needed power nap in the minivan.

Then we headed over the bookstore Books Plus. It is one of our favorite places to haunt while in ABQ. I picked up an interesting book called Me, Myself, & Bob. As the red letters might give away it is a book about Phil Vischer the VeggieTales creator. He tells the story of his dream and how it went from filled to dashed to back on track.

We also picked up a video called Facing The Giants. This is a movie we had wanted to go see at the theater but it was released at selected theaters since it is a Christian movie. The closest theater was in Farmington at the time. Of course I had to see it because it was another one of those inspirational high school football stories. Anyway we watched the new buy on the way home in the in the van this evening. I have to say it is very nice movie and very inspirational. Thumbs up and I can whole heartedly recommend it. It is PG for thematic elements but compared to so many of the PG movies for kids these days it is very very tame.

There was at one point rumors going around that it got the PG rating due to the theme of Christ but later in a rare move the Motion Picture Association of American (MPAA) said, "“This film has a mature discussion about pregnancy, for example, as well as other elements that parents might want to be aware of. .... "

In this I would agree....there is alot to chew on in this movie and one of its targets audiences is youth.

Now if you think you want to see what PluggedInOnline has to say then BEWARE that the review, though majorly positive, is MAJORLY A SPOILER for the movie in my opinion.

Anyway back to our day.... after the bookstore we went over to the Mall and the girls went window shopping and browsing. Then off to of course Rudy's! It was very busy but the food was even better than normal. Emily was not feeling up to par then so did not eat much but Elizabeth make this old West Texas boy proud. She ate plenty of mustard tater salad, boiled taters, and smoked saugage. Yum. I couldn't ask for more. Well it is getting late. I know some of us will show up for church tomorrow but I am not positive all of will ... Emily may be under the weather a bit.
